Vous aimez la cuisine asiatique ? Moi, oui !

Même si je suis moi-même asiatique (coréenne, vous le savez déjà), j’ai toujours envie de goûter à tout ce que propose l’Asie : riz, nouilles, curry, dim sum… tout !

Do you like Asian food? I do!

Even though I’m Asian myself (Korean, as you probably know), I always want to try everything Asia has to offer — rice, noodles, curry, dim sum… you name it!

Mais attention : quand c’est trop épicé, je dois freiner un peu. 😶

Je n’aime même pas les plats relevés… étonnant pour une Coréenne, non ?

🏢 Découverte du resto / How I found the place

Il y a quelques années, un nouveau bâtiment est apparu à Daeyeon-dong, dans un coin que je connais par cœur.

J’y suis passée littéralement des centaines de fois, même avant de réaliser que quelque chose avait changé à cet endroit.

Et pourtant, je n’ai jamais su : rénovation ou construction neuve ?

Aucune idée !

A few years ago, a new building appeared in Daeyeon-dong — in a spot I know by heart.

I must’ve walked past it hundreds of times, even before I realized something had changed there.

And yet, I’ve never figured it out: was it a renovation or brand-new construction?

Still no idea.

En bas, un salon de thé indien. Tout en haut, un resto indien au 4ᵉ étage.

Ça me tentait depuis un moment.

Downstairs: an Indian tea house. All the way up on the 4th floor: an Indian restaurant.

I’d been meaning to check it out for a while.

Mais chaque fois que je passais devant… le timing n’était jamais bon.

Le salon était fermé, ou bien je n’avais pas faim… 😩

Je me répétais : « Un jour, j’irai. »

Mais comme souvent… le bon moment n’arrivait jamais !

🌧️ Enfin, on y est allées (un jour de pluie) / Finally went (on a rainy day)

Ma tante était de passage à Busan récemment, alors on est allées chez « Bhavan ».

Elle vient assez souvent ces temps-ci — bon, Geoje et Busan, ce n’est pas si loin.

My aunt came to visit Busan recently, so we went to “Bhavan” together.

She’s been coming fairly often lately — I mean, Geoje and Busan aren’t that far apart.

Ce jour-là, il pleuvait à verse — vous savez comme le temps à Busan est capricieux ces temps-ci ! 😣

Elle avait dormi chez mes parents la veille, et le lendemain, elle nous a rejointes devant le resto — ma sœur et moi étions déjà dehors.

That day, it was pouring — you know how unpredictable Busan weather is these days! ☔

She had stayed over at my parents’ the night before, and the next day she met up with my sister and me in front of the restaurant — we were already waiting outside.

🍽️ On a commandé… / We ordered…

Nos choix du jour :
• Thali du Sud de l’Inde (South India Goan Thali Set) aux crevettes — c’était pour moi !
• Thali du Punjab (Punjab Thali Set) au poulet tandoori — pour les autres filles.
• Panipuri

On avait aussi envisagé de goûter le dosa & sambar, et le gulab jamun…

Mais la serveuse nous a gentiment prévenues :

« Vous risquez d’être déjà bien calées après ça. »

But the server — a lovely woman — kindly warned us:

“You’ll probably be full already.”

Et elle avait tellement raison — on n’a même pas réussi à finir les plats principaux. 😁

🌶️ Un peu trop relevé pour moi. / Not too spicy — just not my thing.

Comme j’ai un palais plutôt sensible aux épices, j’étais un peu inquiète avant de commander.

Heureusement, la serveuse a pris le temps de nous expliquer quels plats étaient plus relevés que d’autres au moment du service.

C’était super attentionné !

Il y a eu un curry que je n’ai pas du tout apprécié… pas parce qu’il était trop épicé, mais parce que le goût m’était trop inhabituel.

C’était celui du milieu, dans le trio de currys. Impossible de me souvenir du nom maintenant. Dommage !

There was one curry I didn’t enjoy at all — not because it was too spicy, but the flavor just wasn’t for me.

It was the one in the middle, in the trio of curries. I completely forgot the name though. Too bad!

Je crois avoir retrouvé le nom de ce curry que je n’ai pas aimé : c’était probablement un dal makhani.

Il est fait à base de lentilles noires et de haricots rouges, avec une touche de crème…

Pas vraiment à mon goût, mais bon, au moins maintenant je sais ce que c’est ! 😅

I think I finally figured out the name of that curry I didn’t enjoy — it was probably dal makhani.

It’s made with black lentils and red kidney beans, with a splash of cream on top…

Just not my thing, but hey, at least now I know what it was! 😅 ahaha

🥤 Mon coup de cœur frais du jour. / Honestly, that lassi was so good.

J’avais lu dans plusieurs avis que le lassi était excellent — et franchement, je confirme !

Sucré, frais, parfaitement équilibré. 🩷

J’ai même failli oublier de le mentionner, ça aurait été vraiment dommage !

Musique indienne entraînante en fond sonore — pas discrète du tout, mais pas désagréable non plus.

Moi, ça ne m’a pas dérangée.

🥔 Panipuri, c’est quoi ? / What’s panipuri?

Un petit snack indien : une coque croustillante et creuse (un peu comme une mini boule) remplie de pommes de terre, de pois chiches et d’une sauce épicée.

A popular Indian snack: a crispy, hollow shell (kind of like a mini puff ball) filled with potatoes, chickpeas, and spicy sauce.

C’était super croquant ! Et avec tous ces ingrédients mélangés… le goût était vraiment unique.

J’ai bien aimé découvrir cet endroit, même si ce n’est pas un coup de cœur.

Je pourrais y retourner pour tester d’autres plats que je n’ai pas encore goûtés…
mais ce ne sera pas un passage obligé, pour être honnête.

I might go back to try a few other dishes I haven’t had yet… but honestly, it won’t be at the top of my list. 🤭

Maintenant que j’ai testé le restaurant, je suis vraiment curieuse de découvrir le salon de thé au rez-de-chaussée.

Ce sera sûrement ma prochaine petite aventure gourmande dans le quartier.
